Diarrhoea
Acute:
1 Rest.
2 Take fluids only; no milk or citrus, minimal tea or coffee.
3 Consult doctor if it persists.
Chronic:
1 Consult doctor. If this is not helpful investigate possible causes (food allergy, Candida, fear, drugs).
2 Cut down on fluids, avoid milk and citrus drinks.
3 Take a bulking agent (linseed, Isogel).
4 Eat a clean, varied diet.
5 Look after your nerves: slow down, take up relaxation exercises, self-talk, counselling, recreation, laughter.
6 Look after your general health: exercise, daylight and fresh air.
7 Practise delaying going to the lavatory.
Agoraphobia
1 Retrain your breathing.
2 Look after your nerves generally.
3 Follow the low blood sugar pattern of eating and always have a snack before you attempt to go out.
4 Practise going out in your imagination when you are sitting in the evening; see yourself really enjoying your outing.
